fulltime (38 hours/week)

To work on: Cell-cycle control in a multicellular context

Description: Research over the past decades has uncovered the basic principles of the cell cycle, in which cells transition between phases of growth, DNA replication and division. However, most of our knowledge on cell-cycle control stems from research performed in individual cells, such as yeast or mammalian cells in culture, and surprisingly little is known about cell-cycle control in the context of a tissue environment, such as within an animal body. In our group, we are studying how the cell cycle is controlled in a multicellular context, and how cell-cycle decisions influence cellular and tissue-wide functions, making use of C. elegans and mammalian organoid cultures as model systems.

Requirements: We are seeking outstanding postdoc candidates with a PhD in Biomedical Science, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent. The candidate should have a strong background in cell biology, and experience with microscopy and/or model organisms is preferred. The candidate should be passionate about biology, curious, and highly motivated. Fluency in English is required. The application should include a letter of motivation, a CV with two references and a short summary of your PhD thesis. An interview and a presentation at the Hubrecht Institute will be part of the selection procedure.

Duration: For the duration of one year with a possibility to extend after positive evaluation.

Salary: According to “CAO-Nederlandse Universiteiten” (CAO-NU), salary scale negotiable, depending on experience scale 10 excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% year-end bonus. We offer an extensive package of fringe benefits.

Location: Utrecht Science Park, the Netherlands.
