Danica (Dana) Zivkovic received in 1981 her Masters in Biology at the Utrecht University. Subsequently for a number of years she worked in UN financed projects in Africa. In 1990 she received her PhD on studies of ionic currents produced by developing moluscan embryos. In 1991 she joined as a post doc the Hubrecht Institute to set up zebrafish as a developmental model system. Now she works there as a group leader. Her interests focus on nervous system development, neural stem cell biology and neurodegenerative diseases.
