The work is the result of a collaboration between the Hubrecht Institute, University Medical Center Utrecht, Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow and Cardiff School of Biosciences.

Hans Clevers receives Meyenburg Cancer Research Award 2008

10 December 2008 | On Thursday 11 December Hans Clevers, director of the institute, received the Meyenburg Cancer Research Award 2008. The prize is awarded yearly by the Meyenburg Stiftung for outstanding achievements in the field of cancer research. Earlier prize winners were, amongst others, Elizabeth Blackburn (2006), Andrew Fire (2002) and Carl-Henrik Heldin (1999).

Hans Clevers receives Josephine Nefkens Prize for Cancer Research

28 November 2008 | On 28 November Hans Clevers, director of the institute, received the Josephine Nefkens Prize for Cancer Research. The prize is awarded every three year by the ErasmusMC to an active scientist for excellent cancer research. Earlier prize winners were Prof. Jan Hoeijmakers (2001) and Prof. René Bernards (2004). The prize comes with an award of € 50.000 which can be used for cancer research at the scientists own discretion.

ERC Advanced Grant awarded to Hans Clevers

13 October 2008 | Prof. Hans Clevers, director of the Hubrecht Institute-KNAW and professor of Molecular Genetics at the University Utrecht (faculties Medince and Veterinary Medicne) has been awarded an Advanced Investigator Grant from the European Research Council (ERC). This is the first year that these grants are awarded.

5 August 2008 | Dr. Jeroen Bakkers has been awarded a NWO Vidi grant for his research on "Left-right patterning and heart morphogenesis in zebrafish".
Dr. Leonie Kamminga and Dr. Magdalena Lorenowicz have both been awarded a NWO Veni grant.
