The instite is the first in Europe to expand its facility for reading DNA with the latest generation sequencer (SOLiD) from the US-based company Applied Biosystems.
This revolutionary technology allows mapping of 2 to 8 billion rough DNA letters in one single analysis. Amongst others, the institute will use this new technology to identify mutations and variations of inheritable material of both model organisms and patients
