Ronald Plasterk appointed Minister of Education, Culture and Science

Ronald Plasterk leaves the institute to become the Minister of Education, Culture and Science in the new Dutch Government headed by Prime-minister Balkenende. In addition to his scientific activities, Ronald has been a long-term active member of the Socialist Party "Partij van de Arbeid", one of the three parties in the coalition government.

Ronald joined the Hubrecht Institute in 2000 as director and has been instrumental in streamlining its organization and enhancing its international visibility and scientific reputation.

We sadly see him leave and wish him all the best in his new position.
